Ever wondered how you operate on a tortoise?
This is Amy, she is a 9 year old tortoise.
We performed surgery on her to remove her ovaries. She had a condition called follicular stasis, meaning that her ovaries were not releasing eggs, resulting in peronitis (inflammation within her enclosed body cavity).
Here are some photos of her from anaesthetising her, the surgery and recovering from anaesthetic.
Amy is now doing well thanks to surgery performed by Jason and his team.
