Head Nurse Vacancies

Exciting opportunity for two experienced RVNs to join our fantastic team as Head Nurse at our busy, well-equipped RCVS accredited 24-hour Small Animal Hospital & Veterinary Emergency Service based in Gloucester.

The successful applicants will be overseeing our team of 22 Day Nurses, 4 Night Nurses and 4 kennel assistants, as well as helping with the planned hospital development and expansion of our already amazing facilities.

The ideal candidate will have good and proven leadership and communication skills, with a strong passion & drive for the Veterinary Industry.

The role involves a mixture of clinical and administrative work to support and encourage the growth of the team and practice. Previous Head Nurse or management experienced preferred.

Contracted up to 40 hours per week with some flexibility:

 1:7 full weekends, 1:14 Saturdays.

Full-time and part-time RVN's

We are looking for full-time and part-time RVN’s to join our team of driven and motivated individuals, including many with post qualification certificates.

We currently have 20 Day Nurses, 4 Night Nurses and 4 kennel assistants working at our busy RCVS PSS accredited Animal Hospital in Gloucester. Our nurses enjoy a great work/life balance, varied caseload where schedule 3 is actively encouraged and additional training/qualifications are supported.

Applicants should be conscientious, hardworking, have a passion for providing gold standard veterinary care and be confident in all aspects of our nursing rota. As an approved training practice being a Clinical coach would be advantageous, but training can be provided if you would like to support our student nurses.

Full time candidates (4 x 10 hour or 5 x 8.5-hour days (1-hour unpaid lunch). 1 in 7 weekends with time off in Lieu and 1 in 14 Saturdays.

Part time candidates (2 or 3 x 8.5-hour days (1-hour unpaid lunch). 1 in 7 weekends with time off in Lieu and 1 in 14 Saturday mornings.

We have our own dedicated night team so there is no OOH’s although there is the opportunity the provide holiday cover if you wish.

We are a large RCVS Accredited Hospital looking to expand our dedicated Small Animal Team of 20 vets. Small Animal New Graduate Vacancy
Are you a new or recently qualified, talented, veterinary graduate looking for an excellent opportunity to advance your skills in small animal medicine and surgery in a supportive hospital environment?

The role, at Wood Veterinary Group in Gloucestershire, is initially a year-long internship as part of the Vet Partners Group New Graduate Scheme with potential for a permanent long-term career.


You will work as the primary contact for clients but also alongside our specialist team to ensure patients have access to gold standard healthcare without the need to travel for referral.

You will be involved in the hands-on care of a range of small-animals, providing both emergency and routine healthcare and educating pet owners about how they can manage and prevent further injuries and/or sickness.


Key Responsibilities: Provide first-class care to injured/sick patients. Administer treatments including injections, tablets, drips and blood transfusions. Perform diagnostic tests, e.g. blood sampling, urine analysis and x-rays. Prepare animals for surgery and perform some minor procedures e.g neutering, suturing wounds and dental hygiene. Assist veterinary surgeons with major operations.


Hours will be 40 hours p/w, including weekend and out of hours, there will never be sole charge work. Further rota details discussed at interview.


You will hold a degree in Veterinary Medicine, be registered with the RCVS and display good routine small animal surgical and medical skills.

To become part of our small animal veterinary receptionist team working at our main animal hospital in Quedgeley to provide excellent customer service to our valued clients.
