Dogs can become blood donors just like us, and help other dogs in need.
We are looking for dogs to become blood donors. Dogs that match the following criteria can help save a fellow dogs life:
* Between 1-8 years old
* Weigh more than 25kg ( lean body condition )
* Good temperament and be willing to lie on their side for 15 mins for a tummy rub
* Never travelled abroad
* Vaccinated
* Not on any medication
Dogs have different blood types just like us. In the UK we test for DEA 1 Negative and DEA 1 Positive. Around 30{ecd8c12722fada60526afbc133c56c37cec590848e0d4568509294d94d94a1d7} of dog blood donors being negative, keeping up with demand can be challenging. It has been found that certain breeds can are more likely to be Negative and we are particularly appealing to these owners to register their canine companion.
* Dobermanns, Greyhounds, Boxers, German Shepherds, Flat Coat Retrievers, Airedale Terriers, Weimaraner, Lurchers, American Bulldogs, English Pointers and English Bull Terriers.
